Preparing for your Financing Journey
The critical challenge facing entrepreneurs in readying their
ventures for external investment, whether from family and friends,
angels or venture funds, is knowing how to prepare for the journey.
For a variety of reasons, the current success rates for closing an
equity financing are dropping, demanding a higher level of
preparedness by entrepreneurs to be successful.
CapitalRoad faces a similar challenge with the preparedness of
entrepreneurs. Presently, the quality of the presenting companies
has come from the recommendations of participating investors in the
selection process. As the investors participating in the Banff
Venture Forum and Canadian Financing Forum events have called for
higher quality companies, those presenting have been more
experienced, more polished and have closed some prior
financing.
However, there is a growing need across the country to ready
companies earlier for the financing journey.
In the past couple of years, CapitalRoad has reached out to our
regional partners and sponsors to integrate local pitch events and
competitions, bootcamps and mentoring into the journey along the
Road to the Banff Venture Forum.
CapitalRoad believes that a national program of online bootcamp
resources can benefit companies and our local partners better
prepare for the financing journey.
